Introducing Chimney Cakes. A 300 year old  Hungarian Tradition.

Traditionally known as Kürtõs Kalács, Chimney cakes are sweet and crunchy on the outside and soft, warm and fluffy on the inside.


 They where reserved for special occasions such as weddings and birthdays. Nowadays they have become popular at markets and festivals, in Hungary and thanks to Tom and Erica, in Wellington!  

Originally, chimney cakes where served only with the caramelized glaze created by melted sugar. Tom and Erica have taken this concept and developed it further by adding a layer of heavenly sweetness in the form of real plum powder, powdered cinnamon goodness, vanilla, coco and a selection of nuts ranging from walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds. 

Of course that only takes care of the outside. Lashings of melted chocolate, apricots, cherries or raisins can be added to the fluffy inside to create an even more flavorsome taste sensation!

These unique cakes are best enjoyed fresh. Their goodness lasts for up to 24 hours during which you can unwrap them from the cellophane to warm and freshen up for a few minutes in the oven.
